Biogeographic distribution

Diphyes bojani has a wide geographic distribution, and can be found in the Atlantic (North and South), Indian and Pacific oceans, as well as the Mediterranean.  It is most abundant in warm equatorial waters, and studies have shown it to be limited in the Pacific by the 8°C North and 10°C South isotherms, as shown on the map below (Alvariño 1971, map adapted from the same source).
